HOW TO DESIGN AN AD
FOR YOUR BUSINESS
Everyone at some point has a need to advertise
their business. What’s the secret to great ads that will catch people's
attention? Designing a great ad isn't impossible, just use these
simple design guidelines to take your ad to the next level. Start with
PLANNING. What is your goal for the AD?
Rule #1: Keep it simple.
People
don't have the patience to sift through cluttered visuals or
copy to learn about what is being sold. Use clean visuals with a lot of
white space to catch attention. Make the copy short and to the point.
Idea #1: Use a visual to catch attention and
tell the story.
Visuals, whether a photo or a graphic element, are the
first thing that catches a person's attention. An interesting visual can
bring people into the ad.
Idea #2: Describe the features by showing the
benefits.
Consumers aren't interested in the thing that's being
sold. They are interested in what it can do for them. The ad should focus
on how this product can be useful to customers.
Idea #3: Show how the
product or service is better, don't just tell the person about
it. Use examples of what the product can do, that speaks louder than trying
to tout the virtues of the product.
Idea #4: Use metaphors
to help customers understand your product or service. Metaphors can be a quick
and easy way to connect the product with meaning.
Idea #5: Steer
clear of clichés. The best reaction you'll get is a groan using clichés. Entertain
and engage your customer with something new and original.
